The Federation exists to raise the profile of further education
in the county. Together the colleges provide the county's largest
sixth form, and provide learning and training opportunities for
many thousands of adults each year. The Federation is committed
to raising common standards for learners, widening access and participation
in training and education and increasing the employability skills
to support a prosperous county economy. The Federation supports
the Skills Funding Agency agenda for post-16 training and education.
Learners Benefit
Learners using FE providers in Gloucestershire have access to staff
with a vast range of expertise along with high-level technical equipment
and resources. The colleges also work closely with a range of strategic
partners including many major employers. This ensures that existing
and potential users of FE are able to access a wide range of opportunities
to meet their individual needs.
The colleges are working together for the benefit of learners,
employers and communities in the county. They are bidding for funding
to support training and education opportunities, reducing the risk
of wasteful duplication. The colleges are using their alliance to
enhance their purchasing abilities, develop social inclusion, undertake
staff development, develop Information & Communication Technologies
(ICT) and support business development.
